Becoming Burden Free
As a physician in the fee-for-service system, you carry a tremendous burden on your shoulders. You are the glue that holds together medical care, insurance billing, and the care team for your patients. You probably entered medical school more enthusiastic about your future than feel today.
Physician responsibilities in medicine are required. Your license, training, and investment of time and money into your field uniquely position you to take on the duties of patient care, the standards of ethical and evidence-based medicine, and the liability should something go wrong. However, burdens of management requirements, insurance-company billing/coding expectations, and staff-related managerial work have been added onto your plate as the fee-for-service industry has gradually removed doctor's independence in practice while levying heavier and heavier non-clinically-relavant burdens. It may be time to reconsider your path. Direct Care has led me to be burden-free. My responsibilities lie only in what I owe to my patients - good clinical care, up-to-date information, relationship-building, and access. My passion for medicine and my patients is back. Taking that leap out of fee-for-service medicine can help you attain life as a Burden Free MD; and it does not have to be a major expense or come with a new set of burdens. Join me on my journey as I explain how to make the switch without huge startup costs, confusing structures or complicated formulas. |
